Laboratory Test Protocol Effitec Needle Perforation of Mature Cortical Bone

The primary goal of this study is to evaluate the ability of Effitec needles to perforate mature (adult) cortical bone safely and effectively. The test will assess the force required for perforation, the needle’s structural integrity post-perforation, and its injection capability after perforation. The secondary goal of this study is to observe the impact of needle angulation variation to drill the cortical bone. Since thickness of mature cortical bone will provide a worst-case challenge to needle performance at a most-challenging angle, this data represents the worst-case impact to mature and immature bone by representing the longest distance (bone thickness) for perforation.
